The mediterranean island of Donfilia.
Quote from "The History and Traditions of The Isle of Light and Tranquility that is otherwisw known as Donfilia"
"Donfilia is situated in the Eastern Mediterranean. Small only, aprox 50 miles by 25 at its longest and widest, it boast a delightful climate as befits its position in the Mediterranean Sea.
The north is hilly, forested and green. Any beaches, are secluded, some only accessible by sea. The main industry is logging, which is controlled and sustainable.
The south in contrast is softer, sweeping valleys between low peaks only. Here you find Olives, Tomatoes, and grapes grown in abundance.
The capital city, and main commercial centre is Porto Ayioni. Busting and vibrant, with shopping to suit all pockets. As its name implies, it is also the main port. Not only for commercial use, although The ruling family have many shippping interests, it also cateres for the cruise industry, a new state of the art terminal opening recently. This is the only safe harbour on the island, and as such, is one of the reasons Donfilia has remained the tranquil haven it has been for centuries.
Beaches are clean, safe, and accessible. Sleeping rough is frowned upon. The island council provides, clean affordable, camping accommodation. Work is plentiful, and all islanders are encouraged to support themselves and their family. Medical care and schooling is free.
Tourism, is controlled and welcome. Safe for the lone traveller, as well as couples and families, there are several resorts and villages for the traveller, all along the south coast. There is some talk of an eco village, in the north but this is yet to be confirmed.
Ski-ing is usually possible during the winter months, on Monte Marinnia, the highest peak on the island.
The ruling family, The Royal House of Deligni, have been in power for over 700 years. It is a peaceful, benign and forward thinking rule.
The Housr of Deligni has been ruled (since the death of Queen Carrin) for the last 35 years by King Alfredo, 33 of these years with His Wife Queen Yolanda. They have several children, and as the house adhers to the ruling laid down over 500 years ago by the then King, Jessamo, The heir apparent is 29 year old Princess Daisy, who was born 7 minutes ahead of her twin brother, Prince
Davido. Neither are married. There are several other siblings."
Gossip:-
From Donfilia Uncovered- July/ August -(this Year)
Daisy has on occasion been to comment that anywhere else in the world, she wouldn't be tied to the crown, Davido would. His reply is unprintable. Neither are married.
Alfredo is begining to prepare to step down. On his wedding day, he promised his wife, whom he still adores, that there older years would be for them alone. At 60, he feels it is time to honour that wish.
The island looks and sounds idyllic. However, rumours are begining to appear to show, that if you scratch the surface, Donflia has it's problems like anywhere else.
Marco, a younger son, disappeared 7 years ago, at the age of 20, after a disagreement with his father. He has not been seen or heard of since.
Layla, is the youngest at 20. She cannot accept the confines of Royal Life, that the government would like to put on her. At present she is fighting to study for her MSC in Scotland.
And as for the rest of the family and the household? We will update you as and when."
OK ladies GO FOR IT! We have a mini series in the making here.
do you need anything else? you can all choose who you want to write about. please add any other names as applicable. You have between 10,000 and 15,000 words max. This is the amount of worls, some new mini novels are requiring.
I would like those mentioned to get a hearing tho if poss. Cherie I know you have a servant girl in mind? do you know which way you are going with her?
Have I got this right ? Please tell me, and if you need 'owt else'.
I have deliberately made it a happy peaceful place, because that will make it harder for us! (cruel I know but we CAN do it) as we need to go deep to get all our twists and turns.
I am happy to write about who ever is left. Just let me know.
Cheers and good writing love J x
